Why Cruising is Better Than a Resort

During the cruise industry shutdown, and the subsequent covid restrictions, we had to find another way to vacation. We looked into an all-inclusive Mexican resort, but that had its issues with covid restrictions as well. No one wants to get stuck in Mexico due to a false positive covid test. It wasn’t like you’d be able to stay in the resort and relax on the beach! We had to make some compromises and ended up taking a couple vacations in the panhandle of Florida on the Emerald Coast. Beautiful, but having a front row seat to the ocean every day didn’t provide us with all the amenities we get when cruising.

Let’s countdown seven reasons why cruising is a better vacation than a resort. At least in my opinion!

7 Reasons Cruising is the Best Vacation

SEVEN – Everyone Has a Port Within Driving Distance

No matter where you live, there is a most likely a port within driving distance to you. Well, unless you are living in northern Siberia maybe. Do people actually live there? Let’s just say: very few people don’t live within driving distance of a home port for some cruise ship. You may be like us with the closest port with a cruise terminal being a 9 hour drive, or you may be a Florida man that has 3 ports within a few hours drive time. Either way, the ability to drive verses having to fly to your destination makes cruising accessible to more people. Let’s be honest, if you are wanting to vacation across the pond, the flights could be as much as the vacation itself whether that is a cruise or land vacation.

SIX – You Don’t Stay in One Place when Cruising

This can be either a positive or a negative depending on your preferences, but I see it as a positive. You go to bed and wake up at a new port of call. Even if you are someone who likes to immerse themselves into a culture and spend lots of time exploring their vacation destination, a cruise can be a great way to get an overview of an area of the world and decide where you would like to spend more time when you go back for that land vacation.

FIVE – Travel While You Sleep

If you have ever stayed in multiple places during your vacation you will know the worst part is having to pack your bags every time you travel to a new town. Cruising allows you to visit multiple places without the need to pack and and unpack with every town visited. Not only are you not packing and unpacking repeatedly, but you don’t have to worry about transportation to the next location either. You just wake up at a new spot!

FOUR – Cruises are Great for Families

If you are looking for a family-friendly vacation, then cruising is for you. Depending on the age of your children and what they enjoy doing, you may find that one line works better for you than others, but all the major lines have children’s programs. A ship like the Wonder of the Seas is going to have more for your kids to do than a Princess or Celebrity ship, so you will want to check out various ships, see what they have to offer, and see what fits into your vacation budget.

THREE – Cruises Are Budget Friendly

Cruising allows people a budget-friendly way to travel. With planning and preparation, you can often book a cruise for less than a hotel would cost, and your cruise comes with all your food, entertainment and so much more!

TWO – Cruises are All inclusive

Cruising is an all inclusive vacation. There are various levels of what that means, and it all depends on how much you want to spend, but you will be getting everything you NEED: room, food, and entertainment. It is important to know that once you pay off that base fare for your cruise (When I say base fare that includes taxes, port fees and gratuities), then you do not have to spend another dime on your cruise once you get on that ship. If you do want more, you can always upgrade your experience by either adding on a package or upgrading to a higher end cruise line.

ONE – Cruising has Something for Everyone

Probably the number one reason for choosing a cruise for your next vacation, at least in my opinion, is that there is something for everyone. There is just so much to do on a cruise that it would be hard for someone to not find something they enjoy. There are even themed cruises out there if you want to join up with others that have the same hobby and passions as you do. No matter what, there is a cruise line for every preference and budget, so do your research and find the right one for you.

If you don’t believe me, maybe it is time you looked into booking that first cruise and see for yourself!
